Funding Priorities

Requirements

Applications are accepted year-round. Evaluations are quarterly at corporate headquarters and many facilities. Some facilities prefer receiving applications in the second half of the year to consider for the following year's budget.

To be considered for grant funding, organizations must:

  • Have a non-profit tax exempt classification under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or be a public elementary/secondary school, or be a qualifying US-based institute of higher education

  • Align with one or more of Lockheed Martin’s focus areas: Education, Customer & Constituent Relations, and Community Outreach.

  • Be located or operate in a community in which Lockheed Martin has employees.

  • Each organization is limited to one grant per year, except in unusual circumstances.

  • Demonstrate fiscal and administrative responsibility and stability and have an active, diverse board, effective leadership, continuity and efficiency of administration.

Priorities

Lockheed Martin will provide consideration to requests that best address the focus area targets and reflect the organizations effective leadership, fiscal responsibility, and programmatic success.

Focus Areas

  • Education: K-16 math, science and engineering educational initiatives. These programs include the Lockheed Martin Space Day education initiative, MATHCOUNTS®, National Engineers Week and employee mentoring programs nationally and in our local communities. Lockheed Martin dedicates most of its education funding to these activities. On occasion it considers local programs that support these priorities.

  • Community Outreach: Civic, cultural, environmental, and health & human services programs that strengthen our communities. In many parts of the country, Lockheed Martin’s primary contributions to health & human services are made through the United Way. In the Washington, D.C., area, they are made through Charities of Choice.

  • Customer and Constituent Relations: Causes of importance to our customers, including the U.S. military and other government agencies. Lockheed Martin shows its commitment to customer and constituent interests through its support of: Lockheed Martin Employees Care (a partnership with USO Operation Care Package), Armed Services YMCA, America Supports You, and the National Air and Space Museum, among others.

Limitations

Lockheed Martin will not generally make contributions to support certain types of requests.  These include but are not limited to the following:

  • Organizations that discriminate illegally by race, creed, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, disability or national origin.

  • Home-based child care/educational services.

  • Individuals (as for business start-ups or scholarships).

  • Religious organizations for religious purposes.

  • Professional associations, labor organizations, fraternal organizations or social clubs; social events sponsored by social clubs.

  • Athletic groups.
