 A former manufacturing facility for military navigational systems and radar, the Great Neck site was acquired by Lockheed Martin in 1996 and has since been sold and redeveloped.
Millions of dollars of work has been completed at the site to address concerns of the community and in coordination with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC). We continue to work with the local communities and public utilities to address their concerns.
To ensure that the public fully understood the plan for the site and to gather comments, company representatives held a series of meetings with local residents and developed an innovative three-dimensional presentation to explain groundwater movement.
We also continue to participate in a Citizens Liaison Committee through which we share information. The efforts have earned the National Association of Environmental Professionals Award of Excellence and received recognition from the New York League of Conservation Voters.
