Radar Systems

Radar systems antenna farmLockheed Martin is a world leader in research, design, development, and manufacture of radar systems. For more than a half-century we have been producing radar and integrated surveillance systems, delivering the world's first solid-state radar in 1976.

Our radar systems are in operation in 38 countries ranging from near the Arctic Circle to the Saudi Arabian desert to the tropics of Brazil. They detect, classify, track and engage distant targets over every terrain imaginable. The modular solid-state, phased-array design provides high performance, improved reliability and ease of maintenance.

Lockheed Martin's ground-based, airborne and shipboard radar systems are used for:

Aegis, the world's premier naval defense system, using the SPY-1 radar, tracks hundreds of targets simultaneously while defending against incoming aircraft, missiles, torpedoes, submarines, and enemy ships. Aegis automatically implements defenses to protect the fleet, countering threats and striking inland targets.

Our tethered aerostats and airships carry radar and other sensors, as well as communications electronics. These long-endurance, airborne vehicles watch over remote border areas detecting unauthorized air, ground, and sea traffic.
