Space Systems Partnership

Lockheed Martin is teamed with Pratt & Whitney and NPO Energomash to produce the RD-180 rocket engine for the Atlas V launchers. The Russian RD-180 engine is one of the most reliable rocket engines in the world. Its use on the Atlas launchers marked the first time a Russian-built engine has been used on an American rocket.

The most advanced Atlas, the Atlas V, is a more efficient, more powerful, lower cost launcher than its predecessors.  It is designed to support the commercial and U.S. government market for space launch services.

The Atlas V family is capable of lifting payloads up to 19,114 pounds to geosynchronous transfer orbit.
