Multiple Launch Rocket System M270 (MLRS)
The Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS®) is a highly mobile, automatic system that fires surface-to-surface rockets and missiles from the M270 platform. From inside the cab, the crew of three can fire up to 12 MLRS rockets or two Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS®). - 857 fielded in the U.S.
- Fielding in 14 countries
- Upgraded in early 1990s to fire Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS)
- Missions completed with crew of three and automated Fire Control System
- More than 10,000 rockets and 32 ATACMS fired in combat during Desert Storm
