Public Health Informatics
Public Health Informatics is the application of information science and technology to public health practice and research. As the Nation's largest provider of Information Technology to the Federal government, Lockheed Martin is poised to leverage its experience in large-scale IT program development and expertise in public health and healthcare to aid in solving such problems as epidemics, environmental health threats and bioterrorism, and to promote good health and prevent disease among all Americans. Lockheed Martin supports the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention with Information Technology services and capabilities as it serves the nation’s public health efforts to prevent and control infectious and chronic diseases, injuries, workplace hazards, disabilities and environmental health threats. These IT services range from a downloadable disease-tracking tool used by epidemiologists around the world to complaint-messaging and communications services for state and local health departments. The company is involved in developing improved systems and capabilities to access and share information with state and local public health jurisdictions as well. Supporting CDC programs, ES&S staff provides the tools and resources that help “turn data into knowledge and knowledge into action.”
