Moog Components Group

Reading, Berkshire, based Moog Components Group is a key supplier to a number of Lockheed Martin’s land and air programmes in the UK, including the Warrior Capability Sustainment Programmer (WCSP), Sniper targeting pod, F-35 Lightning II joint strike fighter and C-130J Hercules transport aircraft.
Moog’s heritage goes back some 50 years and the company currently employs some 1560 people at its Reading facility, the hub of its European components business.
As a direct result of its expanding work in land platforms, notably the WCSP, Moog Components Group has expanded its Reading factory by some 50 per cent and, with around seven years of steady workflow ahead, is looking to expand its workforce by around 10 per cent.
Moog Components Group is the world’s leading slip ring manufacturer. Through its partnership with Lockheed martin on the WCSP programme, the company is modifying the vehicle’s slip ring turret – a vital and complex link between the vehicle hull and turret.
Using British design expertise, the slip ring is being modified to carry additional electrical data and power needed for the Warrior armoured fighting vehicle to fire its CT40 gun while on the move, something it is currently unable to do. Equipping Warrior with state of the art firepower and electronics is a critical element of the vehicle’s capability sustainment programme.
Working in close partnership with engineers at Lockheed martin UK, Moog Components Group is working to develop innovative and cost effective solutions to support Warrior, one of the Army’s most important fighting vehicles which will continue to be at the heart of the UK’s combat capability for at least another 25 years.
