Lockheed Martin Releases 2007 DSEi Press Briefing Schedule

LONDON, September 4, 2007 -- Lockheed Martin UK today released its press briefing schedule for the 2007 DSEi exhibition.

The company will be displaying products at three stands. Stand number 1455 will feature displays and demonstrations including the Patriot Advanced Capability -3 (PAC-3), Terminal High Altitude Area Defence system (THAAD), Hellfire, Javelin, Direct Attack Guided Rocket (DAGR), Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS), the Advanced Gunnery Training System and Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) and an Urban Populace Simulation.

Stand number 2291 will show the company’s solution to the Warrior Lethality Improvement Programme (LIP) - as integrated on a genuine Warrior Armoured Fighting Vehicle - and the Lightweight Mobile Artillery Weapon System (Rocket) [LIMAWS(R)] vehicle. Warrior LIP will display improvements demonstrated during recent tests that outlined Lockheed Martin’s novel approach to engineering a new turret solution. Reporters are invited to visit the stand where they can receive a personalised briefing and an inside-tour of the vehicle. LIMAWS(R) is a Future Force capability launcher that supports lighter and early entry forces thanks to its airlift capability inside a C-130 or slung underneath a Chinook helicopter. Lockheed Martin will be displaying Soothsayer at stands 1812-1813 and the company’s innovative HMT 4x4 vehicle will also be on display at the west entrance to the event.

All press briefings will take place in the Excel platinum suites press briefing rooms with the exception of Warrior Lethality Improvement Programme briefs which will take place at stand 2291 and are available by appointment only. Apply at the stand or call +44 (0)20 7069 6043 during show hours.

Press Briefings

Tuesday, September 11

11:30 a.m. – “DAGR: Precision-Strike Capability in a 2.75-Inch/70mm Guided Rocket”

Dave Helsel, Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control business development manager will introduce DAGR™, a semi-active laser guidance kit that adapts to 2.75-inch/70mm rockets to provide guided-rocket performance comparable to that of the precision-strike laser-guided HELLFIRE II® missile. DAGR is being developed by Lockheed Martin to fill the gap between unguided rockets and HELLFIRE by providing a precision-strike, air-to-ground weapon for close air support in urban environments that minimises collateral damage. The briefing will provide an overview of DAGR’s features and objective characteristics, development status, and candidate platforms.( Platinum suite, room seven)

1:30 p.m. – “Pathfinder - Revolutionary Advanced Pilotage FLIR for Airborne Systems.”

Beth Marchman, business development director for Sensors and Missiles

will highlight Pathfinder, a state-of-the-art advanced pilotage system readily available for cargo and utility aircraft fleets. Pathfinder is a low-risk, best-value pilotage solution that significantly reduces pilot workload and increases situational awareness and confidence. The system provides safe-flight capabilities in diminished visibility conditions such as brownouts, whiteouts, darkness and adverse weather, helping the pilot achieve mission success. The briefing will cover programme developments to date and the path forward to rapid fielding. (Platinum suite, room seven)

2:30 p.m. – “European Defence Forces Accelerate RFID Adoption for Real-Time Logistics Operations.”

Chris Stephenson from Savi Technology, Inc., a Lockheed Martin company, will demonstrate how coalition forces throughout Europe are accelerating the adoption of compatible RFID networked solutions to enhance the visibility, collaborative management and performance of delivering military supplies to the right place at the right time. Already, NATO headquarters and defense forces in the UK, Spain, Denmark and Sweden are deploying these high-tech networks to keep track of supplies in real-time as they’re transported within countries or across borders into the Middle East. The brief will cover how this advanced technology, when linked to web-based software, is improving performance-based logistics. New RFID orders have just begun through a recent In-Service contract with the NATO Maintenance and Supply Agency (NAMSA), which simplifies and centralises the process for member nations to deploy network infrastructure and consignment management solutions. (Platinum suite, room seven)

Wednesday, September 12

11:30 a.m. – “LIMAWS(R) Launcher Capabilities Assessments and Developments.”

Chris Martin, marketing director Lockheed Martin UK – INSYS and Jon Schreyach, manager international business development will introduce the LIMAWS launcher, its characteristics, capabilities and munitions suite. Also covered will be a synopsis of the Assessment Phase and the Risk Reduction effort just completed. Following this, the goals for the Manufacturing and Development effort, which is the next scheduled phase, will be presented. The presentation will also feature video clips of the LIMAWS(R) in action. (Platinum suite, room seven)

12:30 p.m. – “Remote Multi-Mission Vehicle (RMMV)- Littoral Warfare Applications.”

Marc Heller, business development for Lockheed Martin Maritime Systems and Sensors, Undersea Systems, will introduce the Remote Multi-Mission Vehicle. The RMMV is a robust unmanned semi-submersible vehicle system that can be adapted to a broad spectrum of new applications and missions. The vehicle is entering the U.S. Navy inventory as part of the AN/WLD-1 remote mine hunting system deployed on DDG51 Class ships, and LCS as part of the mine warfare and ASW mission packages. The RMMV provides all-weather, low observable operations, high endurance, interchangeable mission systems with electronics and real time data transfer capability beyond line of sight. Designed for deployment from Littoral Combat Ship and DDG-51 Class as well as shore based or ships of opportunity, the RMMV can provide a significant off-board capability for combatant commanders. (Platinum suite room six)

1:30 p.m. – “Modernising the Fleet: A Global Effort"

Jeff Napoliello, Business Development vice president from Lockheed Martin Maritime Systems & Sensors, will discuss the global reach of its naval modernisation capabilities. Through its industry leadership in open architecture systems engineering, Lockheed Martin is currently modernising the Aegis Weapon System on the U.S. Navy's Aegis-equipped cruisers. Lockheed Martin is using the lessons learned in naval modernisation programmes and applying them to the international combat management system needs for all ship types, including corvettes, frigates, destroyers and amphibious ships. (Platinum suite room six)

2:30 p.m. –“Total Training and Logistics: Promoting and Sustaining Military Readiness.”

Dale Bennett, president, Lockheed Martin Simulation, Training & Support, will explain how the company delivers fully-integrated technology solutions that optimise, sustain and improve human performance and support training and military forces with integrated logistics solutions. This briefing will focus on how the company leverages technology across programmes to deliver rapid and total value solutions (Platinum suite room seven)

Thursday, September 13

11:30 a.m. – "Advances in Maritime Surveillance Technologies: Manned and Unmanned" Thomas Lewis from Lockheed Martin Maritime Surveillance business development will provide an insight into the company’s maritime airborne surveillance capabilities across manned and unmanned platforms. Through continued investment and development they not only provide access to critical solutions for the armed services and law enforcement, but also mitigate risk by being applicable to future maritime surveillance systems. The ability to support the delivery of timely, actionable intelligence to the operators in a net-centric environment is a critical global need. (Platinum suite, room seven)

12:30 p.m. - "Aegis Evolution: Summer of Successes Paves Future Opportunities" Jeff Napoliello, Business Development vice president from Lockheed Martin Maritime Systems & Sensors, will discuss the success of Aegis Ballistic Missile Defence and the world's first Aegis-equipped ship with the SPY-1F radar, Norway's Fridtjof Nansen.
