Lockheed Martin UK Builds Upon Growing Reputation for UK Government IT Work
Lockheed Martin UK (LMUK) has built upon its growing reputation for the provision of IT support to the UK Government by securing a place among an elite group of companies providing cloud computing services to a full complement of Government departments and organisations.
LMUK has been selected by the Cabinet Office to provide a range of services including infrastructure, software and specialist cloud capabilities.
The G-Cloud 2 contract succeeds the previous G-Cloud 1 programme, which LMUK was also a part of.
Under the latest framework agreement, Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Solutions will now offer support such as computing and storage, e-mail and collaboration, cloud strategy and integration; cloud security; mission centric activities; green IT and energy optimisation; cloud brokering; virtualisation consulting; assessment for Oracle virtualisation and virtual desktop as a service assessment.
The second iteration of the G-Cloud framework agreement, better known as CloudStore, will run for a further twelve months, replacing G-Cloud I and extending the range of IT services available to departments and agencies.
“Lockheed Martin is delighted to expand its role as a provider of cloud services to the UK Government. We will again work closely with Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the UK and leverage our considerable cloud experience in the US,” said Stephen Ball, Lockheed Martin UK Chief Executive. “We continue to consolidate our position as an independent, emerging IT player in the UK. Providing services under G-Cloud 2 will enable us to continue delivering innovation-led, efficiency savings to the UK Government.”
