KC-46 Aircrew Training System
When aircrews take to the skies with the new KC-46 tankers, the U.S. Air Force will expand refueling capacity and increase capabilities for cargo and aeromedical evacuation. Lockheed Martin understands what it takes to equip these aircrews with the expertise they need to effectively and safely carry out their missions.
Fueled by experience
Lockheed Martin applies its legacy of training experience to efficiently prepare mission-ready aircrews. Lockheed Martin trains 35,000 airmen each year on 36 aircraft variants through a student-centric approach that integrates technology, instruction and management systems.
We have developed more than 450 training devices and 6 million square nautical miles of visual databases to support the full range of military flight training. Our 500 instructors deliver 340,000 training hours per year in the classroom and in simulators, guaranteeing mission-ready aircrews.
An immersive KC-46 university to reduce training time and cost
Lockheed Martin delivers a cost-effective KC-46 Aircrew Training System by employing commercial solutions and an accelerated learning environment personalized for each airman. Lockheed Martin and Thales Group provide Level D-certified simulators that use off-the-shelf components.
A number of small businesses supply the latest training technologies, including ACME Worldwide, Inc. of Albuquerque, N.M., which develops boom operator trainers for remote air refueling.
Lockheed Martin consistently applies lessons gleaned from administering 13 aircrew training programs for the U.S. Air Force and coalition partners to ensure affordability across the program lifecycle.
A flexible training approach to adapt to dynamic operational requirements
By applying systems engineering, Lockheed Martin evolves with the mission and advancements in technology. We are investing in new training technologies such as mobile learning, distributed training and just-in-time learning to maximize aircrew preparation.
Additionally, we have supported the U.S. Air Force Distributed Mission Operations Center for over 20 years to advance virtual combat training exercises, testing and experimentation.
