SUBJECT: National Aerospace Week: Honoring the Contributions of Our Industry
This week, we celebrate National Aerospace Week, honoring the vital contributions of the American aerospace and defense industry to our nation. We take great pride in knowing that Lockheed Martin and the entire industry is an engine of economic growth and technological innovation. Our industry, and the role you play, is pivotal to providing force protection for those who serve in harm’s way, and for making the world a better and safer place for all Americans and millions of people around the globe.
National Aerospace Week affords us an opportunity to recognize the contributions of our industry, which supports 3.5 million jobs in all 50 states and provides the economy with a $42 billion foreign trade surplus – the largest of any manufacturing sector. We are part of an industry that has been at the front lines in times of conflict, and at the leading edge of the space age and the information age.
As we mark our company’s Centennial this year, we are reminded of the incredible progress from the first days of powered flight to the landing of the Curiosity rover on the surface of Mars. Hard work, sacrifice and ingenuity brought us from those beginnings to where we stand today. We are confident that your continuing pursuit of excellence and your steadfast integrity will take us to places that can only be imagined today.
Thank you for all you do in support of our customers and their missions, our industry and the good of our nation. Every day, your work makes a difference in so many lives.
