Memorandum
DATE: December 12, 2012
TO: All Lockheed Martin Employees
FROM: Bob Stevens, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Marillyn Hewson, President and Chief Operating Officer
SUBJECT: Thank You for 2012, and Our New Year Commitment to You
As 2012 draws to a close, we have much to be thankful for. High on our list is the great year you delivered, especially in very demanding circumstances. We know that our success is a result of your dedicated efforts, strong sense of purpose, and daily focus on meeting our commitments – to our customers and shareholders and to the communities where we live and work. Thank you for a job well done.
A new year is just around the corner, and it promises more challenges, changes and chances to make a difference in the world. In 2013, our customers will continue to rely on us to achieve their most difficult missions. Our shareholders will continue to rely on us to deliver value on their investment in us. And the communities where we live and work will continue to rely on us for help in making life better for people and their families.
For more than a century, we have had an extraordinary company marked by an unyielding ethical foundation, an innovative spirit, and extraordinary people – like you – who never forget who we’re working for. Our founders, Glenn L. Martin and Allan and Malcolm Lockheed, would indeed be proud of the incredible legacy built in their names. And because our future is in your hands, they would have just as much hope and excitement about our next 100 years as we do.
The next step on that journey will begin on the first day of 2013, when we complete our leadership transition. One of us will step down as Chief Executive Officer so the other can step up. We are prepared in every way for this change, and our commitment to you is this: the transition will be seamless and smooth, and with your unwavering support we will continue to be the world’s global security leader, making a difference in the lives of people across the globe.
Thanks again for a job well done in 2012. As we break for the holidays, please enjoy the time with friends and family – you have earned it. We wish you and yours a safe and merry holiday season and very best wishes for the coming year.
