Join the Conversation During National Cyber Security Awareness Month

ISGS-CYBER_Security_Month

As our world grows more connected, cyber security is becoming increasingly crucial to the growth of commerce, communications, communities and digital content.  If proper measures aren’t taken, it’s easy for individuals, businesses and even governments to fall victim to a cyber-attack.

To confront the growing cyber security threat, this month the United States observes the 10th anniversary of National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM), sponsored by the National Cyber Security Division (NCSD) within the Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA).

This year’s theme for NCSAM suggests there is a shared responsibility to provide a safe digital environment, and that everyone must take part in making the Internet a safe and secure medium. Lockheed Martin encourages everyone to be mindful of potential cyber threats and to learn more about securing themselves, their businesses and agencies online through the “STOP. THINK. CONNECT.” campaign. Individuals can join the conversation at #NCSAM and #ChatSTC on Twitter.

At Lockheed Martin, we live cyber security daily; it’s part of everything we do. We understand it; apply it and, more importantly, we integrate and embed it into every solution we deliver. In October, we’ll join conversations on cyber security’s current state, its future and discuss how industry and governments can work together to maintain a safe digital commons and protect their networks.

Leaders from government and industry cyber security communities will gather to discuss efforts to defend the nation’s critical infrastructure, financial system, and intellectual property, and how industry and government partner to defend our nation’s networks Gen. Michael Hayden, former director of the Central Intelligence Agency, and Charles Croom, vice president, Cyber Security Solutions at Lockheed Martin, are among the speakers. Livestream the event here. Twitter users can follow the conversation at #Cybersec2013."

This two-day event focuses on cyber networking and idea sharing with attendees from government agencies, academic institutions and industry leaders.  This year, Lockheed Martin Fellow Michael Nance and Haden Land, Vice President and Engineering & Chief Technology Officer for IS&GS-Civil, will speak at the event offering their views on the technologies and educational trends that will transform the cyber security community.

  • Cyber Security Awareness Day | October 11

In partnership with the Tech Council of Maryland (TCM) and the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA), Lockheed Martin will host more than 100 high school students in the NexGen Cyber Innovation and Technology Center in Gaithersburg, Md.  The students will engage in sessions on cyber security careers.

This live event will showcase the latest analytical tools in the same way they are employed by commercial enterprises today, and they will share perspectives on big data security models, assessment techniques and automated tools.

  • Tech Council of Maryland Executive Breakfast | October 30

Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Solutions Executive Vice President Sondra Barbour will address growing cyber security threats during her keynote.

  • Bloomberg Government Cyber Security Conference | October 30

This conference provides speakers and audience members an open forum to engage in discussion about the security implications for businesses within an evolving cyber security threat environment.
