Employees were honored last week with Lockheed Martin’s highest award, the NOVA, at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.

“The winners we’re honoring tonight have solved technical puzzles no one else could crack, broken ground in brand new markets, delivered on incredibly complex programs under intense pressure and set a bar for quality, efficiency, and performance that is unmatched in our industry,” said CEO and President Marillyn Hewson at the Oct. 25 event. “And that’s why our leadership team hand-picked these men and women to receive the highest honor we have to bestow.”

The NOVA Awards were created in 1995. The name “NOVA” aptly describes the contribution of the winners as the bright stars of the corporation. A total of 563 employees received NOVA Awards this year.

Hewson noted that the recipients represent the men and women of Lockheed Martin who consistently rise to the occasion and deliver on our commitments to our customers, despite the difficult environment.

“Our winners tonight have been instrumental in accelerating our momentum and I know they’ll keep leading us forward with the same qualities of performance, innovation, and integrity that we celebrate tonight,” Hewson said.

These annual awards, in their 19th year, recognize teams and individuals in the following categories: Affordability; Ethics; Exceptional Service; Full Spectrum Leadership; Teamwork; Technical Excellence; and Technical Innovation.
