QTC Continues to Support Nation’s Railroad Workers and their Families

QTC, a Lockheed Martin company, will continue supporting the nation’s railroad workers and their families by providing medical examination services that enable the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) to administer disability benefits.

The RRB is an independent federal agency that administers more than $11.4 billion a year in benefits under the federal Railroad Retirement and Unemployment Insurance Acts that cover railroad workers and their families. These programs provide income protection during old age and in the event of disability, death or temporary unemployment and sickness. According to the Association of American Railroads, approximately 180,000 employees worked for U.S. freight railroads in 2012.

“For the past decade, QTC has provided disability medical examination services to the RRB, including more than 37,000 exams and ancillary tests,” said Jason Seibel, QTC chief executive officer. “We’re excited to continue this partnership. Our team brings a proven, robust ability to meet the RRB’s specific needs in order to ensure railroad workers get the right benefits, in the right amounts, in a timely manner.”

Under this contract, railroad employees or their widowed spouses or children in need of disability medical examinations are scheduled for an appointment in a QTC provider network office. The health care provider who conducts the exam provides an assessment to the RRB. The RRB then uses those exam results in making a determination on the individual’s claim for benefits.

Railroad employees benefit from QTC’s consistent quality and use of technologies, including electronic data interchange and paperless payments, that help the RRB operate more efficiently and provide the best possible service to claimants. The RRB also uses the QTC secure client portal to access real-time status of each case and retrieve the final medical reports and test results.

QTC is the largest private provider of government-outsourced occupational health and disability examination services in the nation. For more than 30 years, QTC has delivered technology-driven exam solutions for various customers including federal, state and local government agencies; major corporations; third-party administrators; and private insurance companies.

QTC is a part of Lockheed Martin IS&GS-Civil’s Health & Life Sciences line of business, which engineers safe and efficient health care solutions for federal partners. Leveraging its experience in systems integration, the company safeguards crucial healthcare data; supports claims processing and disability examinations for millions of veterans; enables clinical research through cloud computing and data analytics; innovates with mobile solutions; and drives efficiency with intelligent application of information technologies.
