Team 21 Selected as Preferred Tenderer for Australia’s AIR 5428
Australia has selected a Lockheed Martin-led industry team as the preferred tenderer to help future generations of pilots take flight.
During a ceremony Sept. 6 on the flight line of Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base East Sale, Australian officials announced the Team 21 industry team as the nation’s preferred partner for the Project AIR 5428 Pilot Training System. Minister for Defence Kevin Andrews MP made the announcement and was joined by Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Darren Chester, Chief of Air Force Air Marshal Leo Davies, and government and community officials. The AIR 5428 Pilot Training System project will provide the Australian Defence Force with a new training system to take pilots from flight screening through basic and advanced flying training.
Lockheed Martin Australia Chief Executive Raydon Gates said, “On behalf of Team 21 partners Lockheed Martin, Pilatus and Hawker Pacific, we are pleased to have been selected as preferred tenderer for AIR 5428. We look forward to working with the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group to finalise and implement this vital Defence program.”
