Lockheed Martin Commits to 30-Day Extension on Northrop Grumman Combination

BETHESDA, MD, March 9th, 1998 -- Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) said today it has committed to the Department of Justice (DoJ) that the Corporation will not close on its combination with Northrop Grumman prior to April 24, 1998. In a letter to Joel Klein, DoJ's Assistant Attorney General-Antitrust, Peter B. Teets, the Corporation's President and Chief Operating Officer, also assured the agency that in the interim it would develop and submit a proposal responding to DoJ's antitrust concerns.
