General Motors Signs On Lockheed Martin to Drive Information Management
OWEGO, NY, July 6th, 1999 -- Lockheed Martin has been awarded three contracts by General Motors to provide information management services for three GM organizations. Financial terms for the contracts were not announced. Lockheed Martin will: 1) provide elements of General Motors Service Parts Operations' data processing services, as well as 2) maintenance and support for 79 financial systems application programs and, 3) create a single shared marketing information source and decision support solution for the General Motors Customer Management System.
Commenting on the three, multi-year contracts, Ralph J. Szygenda, General Motors vice president and chief information officer said, "These contracts are significant for General Motors because they enable us to incorporate Lockheed Martin's processes, capabilities and technologies into GM's information systems environment. It's win - win for GM and Lockheed Martin."
Lockheed Martin's association with General Motors supports its strategic objectives in the industrial business arena, and this contract provides the company the opportunity to expand its services and systems integration initiatives into the automotive industry.
In adding to Mr. Szygenda's comments, Frank C. Meyer, Lockheed Martin Electronics Platform Integration organization acting president observed, "Lockheed Martin's project management, configuration control and process management expertise will be used to improve functionality, quality, and drive down costs for General Motors. Our team approach to information management will support General Motors' long-term growth objectives as these systems are implemented throughout their enterprise."
