Lockheed Martin And Logan Fabricom Form Joint Venture To Pursue Baggage And Air Cargo Handling Systems
OWEGO, NY, 06-APR-00 -- Lockheed Martin Postal Systems and Logan Fabricom Limited of the United Kingdom have formed a joint venture company, LoganLMTM LLC, to pursue baggage and air cargo handling system opportunities in North America. Based in Orlando, Fla., LoganLM is a strategic partnership that supports Lockheed Martin Electronic Platform Integration's diversification efforts to pursue airport and airline opportunities and Logan's goal to expand its offerings in North America.
Logan is a recognized global leader in baggage handling technology and has installed more than 500 baggage systems at 120 airports worldwide. Through its Postal Systems business in Owego, N.Y., Lockheed Martin is a leader in the design, production and systems integration of a broad product portfolio of material handling, sortation, recognition, and information management systems equipment and technology.
By combining complementary technologies and resources from each company, our North America airport and airline customers will gain an inside track for implementing innovative baggage and cargo handling systems efficiently and quickly, said Michael B. Schoultz, president Lockheed Martin Postal Systems. Lockheed Martin's expertise in business development, engineering, field installation, controls, post installation support, financing, and manufacturing will be used to augment LoganLM's capabilities, Schoultz added.
