STS-103 CREW TO VISIT MICHOUD; REPAIRED HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE

NEW ORLEANS, LA., 28-FEB-00 -- Members of the STS-103 astronaut crew who serviced the Hubble Space Telescope in December will visit the Michoud Assembly Facility on Tuesday, February 29. Visiting crewmembers include Pilot Scott Kelly, Payload Commander Steve Smith and Mission Specialist John Grunsfeld.

Michoud Operations, Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company builds the External Tank, the only non-reusable major Space Shuttle component.

A general assembly for Lockheed Martin and NASA employees will begin at 1 p.m. The crew will be available to discuss their mission with the news media immediately afterward. The astronauts will also present to selected Michoud Operations’ employees the Silver Snoopy awards -- the highest accolade that the Astronaut Corps can bestow on those who build flight hardware.

Reporters and photographers wishing to cover the astronaut visit and general assembly should call Harry Wadsworth at 257-0094 or beeper 572-8233 to arrange for credentials.
