Lockheed Martin NE&SS-Moorestown Receives James S. Cogswell Award For Industrial Security Excellence
MOORESTOWN, NJ, 07-JUN-00 -- The Department of Defense (DoD) announced today that Lockheed Martin Naval Electronics & Surveillance Systems (NE&SS)-Moorestown is one of the recipients of the prestigious James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award for 2000. This is the first time NE&SS-Moorestown has ever received this award. Fred P. Moosally, vice president and general manager, Michael G. Del Rossi, vice president, Human Resources, Art Fletcher, director, Security, and Robin Smith, manager, International and Security Administration, at NE&SS-Moorestown will represent the company at the awards celebration on July 17 in Arlington, Va. The Cogswell Award recognizes outstanding industry participation in the National Industrial Security Program (NISP). The award, administered by the Defense Security Service (DSS), was established in 1966 as the Industrial Security Award for Excellence. It was later renamed the James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award to honor the late Colonel James S. Cogswell, the first Chief of the Office of Industrial Security. Less than one half of one percent of the DoD's cleared defense contractors ever receive this award.
The Moorestown site has been selected for its extraordinary performance over a sustained period of time as a cleared facility under the NISP. This is a major accomplishment for this site, said Moosally, and it comes immediately following a great performance in the recent DSS security review of Moorestown and the DD 21 Program Wide Security Assessment. Each accomplishment serves as a testament to Moorestown's dedication to excellence and in these instances, our commitment to securing information vital to our programs' successes, the approval of our customers and the defense of our nation.
The security personnel, as well as the entire Moorestown work force and all local subcontractors, are to be commended for the success of Moorestown's security department, added Fletcher. It is everyone's consolidated, daily efforts that allow the site to enjoy being honored with awards such as this.
NE&SS-Moorestown is one of six major operating sites of Lockheed Martin NE&SS. NE&SS provides surface ship and submarine combat systems, antisubmarine warfare and ocean surveillance systems, missile launching systems, radar and sensor systems, ship systems integration services and other advanced systems and services to customers worldwide. It is the largest business organization in the Lockheed Martin Systems Integration business area.
