LOCKHEED MARTIN PROMOTES HORAK

NEW ORLEANS, LA., 16-MAY-00 -- Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company, Michoud Operations has promoted Eugene J. Horak to director of Mission Success. In his new position, he will be responsible for technical performance oversight of all Lockheed Martin programs at NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Horak began his Lockheed Martin career in 1961 as a junior engineer on the Titan Missile program in Denver, Colorado. He steadily progressed through a series of engineering and managerial positions while working on such programs as Launch Vehicles, Space Shuttle External Tank, Viking Mars Lander and Skylab.

Horak moved to New Orleans in 1991 to become manager, Technical Labs & New Technology. Most recently, he served as manager, Reusable Launch Systems.

Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company – Michoud Operations designs and assembles large aluminum and composite structures for aerospace and other applications, including the Space Shuttle External Tank and the X-33/VentureStar™ technology demonstration vehicle.
