Lockheed Martin Automated Tray Tracking System Receives U.S. Postal Service Certification
OWEGO, NY, 03-MAY-00 -- Lockheed Martin Postal Systems has received U.S. Postal Service PostalOne! TM certification for its product called Automatic Tray Tracking System (ATTS). The certification authorizes Lockheed Martin to sell its automated mail tray dispatch system to commercial mailers in the United States as well as interface with the Postal Service's surface and STARSHIP TM air assignment transportation reservation system. A U.S. Postal Service-sponsored initiative, PostalOne! provides mailers a portal into the Postal Service's information platform. The program encompasses five process improvements that streamline dispatch operations. Most notably with an ATTS from Lockheed Martin, a commercial mailer realizes reductions in mail staging time and mail preparation and production costs, while throughput and customer service improves. These efficiencies are achieved by aligning the customer's production operation with the U.S. Postal Service Acceptance, Collecting and Induction (ACI) processes.
According to Bob Huff, a Lockheed Martin Postal Systems vice president, obtaining PostalOne! certification is a significant step toward advancing the company's work-share partnership between the U.S. Postal Service and small and large commercial mailers. By driving the letter tray real-time transportation assignment back to the mailer, the U.S. Postal Service realizes efficiencies in reduced labor costs and early visibility into the dispatch mail stream. Commercial mailers benefit because they gain increased process efficiency in their operations. It's a win-win situation for everyone, Huff added.
A leader in design, production and systems integration of a broad product portfolio of recognition, sortation, material handling and information management systems equipment and technology, Lockheed Martin Postal Systems serves customers including domestic and international postal services and commercial customers. Postal Systems, with facilities in Owego, N.Y., Tulsa, Okla., and Orlando, Fla., is a unit of Lockheed Martin Corporation.
