NORFOLK, VA, 29-AUG-01 -- Lockheed Martin Naval Electronics & Surveillance Systems announced today that Mr. Peter Bulkeley has joined its Lifetime Support Business Area as senior manager for Lifetime Support Programs in the Hampton Roads area. Lockheed Martin's Lifetime Support Business Area coordinates and develops standard engineering and support solutions across all five companies that comprise Naval Electronics and Surveillance Systems (NE&SS). Lockheed Martin NE&SS provides surface ship and submarine weapon systems; anti-submarine warfare and ocean surveillance systems; missile launching systems; radar and sensor systems; ship systems integration services and other advanced systems and services to customers worldwide.

Bulkeley will also support the Vice President of Maritime Programs/Norfolk Office Manager who coordinates all Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard business development activities for Lockheed Martin in the Hampton Roads area.

With our commitment to support the fleet with the highest level of operational effectiveness and lowest ownership costs, it was entirely logical to have a professional of Pete's caliber co-located with the primary center of fleet operations and maintenance, said Joe Grosson, Director of the Lifetime Support Business Area. Lockheed Martin NE&SS performs in prime contractor roles for systems on almost all Navy ships based in Norfolk, Grosson added.

Bulkeley retired from the Navy in 1998 after a distinguished career as a Surface Warfare Officer. He brings proven expertise across a broad range of Navy and Joint Programs, as well as significant operational experience both ashore and afloat. In his last active duty assignment, Bulkeley served as the Director of Strategy and Concept Development for the Naval Doctrine Command in Norfolk.

The Lifetime Support Business Area has taken on such importance to Lockheed Martin that several months ago, the Systems Integration business area of the corporation expanded lifetime support functions to other Systems Integration companies. These companies included Information Systems in Orlando, FL; Systems Integration in Owego, NY; and Missiles & Fire Control in Dallas TX and Orlando, FL.
