Lockheed Martin Orlando President Presents Navy Award Named In His Honor
ORLANDO, FL, 07-AUG-01 -- Stan Arthur, president of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control in Orlando, presented the fifth annual Admiral Stan Arthur Awards for Logistics Excellence during ceremonies at the Pentagon today. This year, Arthur presented the U.S. Navy's premiere logistics awards in four categories: Military Logistician of the Year, Civilian Logistician of the Year, Operational Logistics Team of the Year and Acquisition Logistics Team of the Year. A highlight for Arthur was his presentation of the Acquisition Logistics Team award to a Navy team that developed an efficient, cost-effective way to purchase total system support for Lockheed Martin's Consolidated Automated Support System (CASS).
CASS, developed by Lockheed Martin Information Systems, is the world's largest automated test support program. The system is the Navy's standard equipment used to test avionics on aircraft carriers and light helicopter deck ships, as well as shore-based aviation intermediate maintenance departments, marine aviation logistics squadrons, and in depots throughout the United States.
Aside from his Lockheed Martin affiliation, Arthur has additional ties to the CASS program. During a 38-year Navy career, Arthur was closely familiar with the system and an avid supporter of the program. CASS is a great saver of space and people. Its ability to be upgraded as new systems come online is much easier than systems in the past, said Arthur.
Before joining Lockheed Martin and moving to Central Florida, Arthur achieved the rank of Navy Admiral, completing more than 500 combat missions, receiving over 50 air medals and serving as both the Commander for Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm and Vice Chief of Naval Operations. He is recognized as a major contributor to the field of military logistics.
