MOORESTOWN, NJ, 15-FEB-01 -- Andrea J. Lawrence was recently announced director, Communications at Lockheed Martin Naval Electronics & Surveillance Systems (NE&SS)-Surface Systems. Ms. Lawrence will lead Surface Systems' full-service communications department, which includes services such as graphic design and illustration, video and photographic, presentations, reproduction, proposals, as well as the business' public relations activities. Ms. Lawrence transitioned from Lockheed Martin Integrated Business Solutions in Orlando, Fla., the corporation's commercial Information Technology (IT) arm, where she was senior manager responsible for marketing communications and programs. Prior to that assignment, she was manager of Strategic Communications for Missiles and Fire Control also in Orlando, Fla. At Lockheed Martin, Ms. Lawrence has held a variety of leadership positions, coaching teams engaged in marketing communications, employee and executive communications, media relations, community relations, and corporate philanthropy. Earlier assignments in her career included proposal and program management, functional department management, and individual contributions in marketing communications, trade shows and exhibits, proposal writing and editing, and writing and design of promotional material in various media.

Ms. Lawrence has been recognized nationally for her accomplishments through awards from the Society for Technical Communications, the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), and the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), has served actively in Florida chapters and national conferences, and attended symposia as a panel and workshop leader. She is past president and chairman of the Lockheed Martin Leadership Association of Central Florida and is vice chairman, Community Health Centers of Central Florida, Inc.
