Lockheed Martin Named to Voluntary EPA Program

OWEGO, NY, 10-JAN-01 -- Lockheed Martin Systems Integration - Owego has been named as a charter member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) National Environmental Achievement Track. The Achievement Track is the first level of the National Environmental Performance Track, a program that recognizes and rewards American businesses for doing more than the law requires to protect the nation's air, water and land. The Performance Track is a three-year program in which each participating facility sets four goals in order to improve environmental performance.

Of the 225 facilities (100 companies) named to the program, five were Lockheed Martin facilities. Two of these five are located in New York: Lockheed Martin Systems Integration - Owego and Lockheed Martin Naval Electronics & Surveillance Systems in Syracuse. All of the included companies use Environmental Management Systems to comprehensively manage their operations and reduce the environmental impact of their activities.

We have been improving our environmental performance for 25 years, said Frank C. Meyer, president of Lockheed Martin Systems Integration - Owego. We are very pleased to be a part of this new voluntary EPA program.
