Lockheed Martin Provides $6,000 To Tioga County High School Seniors
OWEGO, NY, 27-JUN-01 -- Lockheed Martin Systems Integration - Owego, in conjunction with the Tioga County Coalition for Better Schools, recently awarded 12 Tioga County graduating seniors $6,000 in college scholarships. Over the past 10 years, the company has provided nearly $50,000 to Tioga County graduates pursuing technical careers. Students were selected by their individual school districts to receive $500 scholarships based on their demonstrated improvement in math and science through sound study skills, hard work and personal commitment.
With the rapid development of technology, it is essential that companies like Lockheed Martin recruit the best people available to deliver the best solutions to customers, said Lockheed Martin Systems Integration - Owego president Frank Meyer. We're pleased to be able to reward these students who have worked so hard to improve their math and science skills.
The company sponsors the Tioga County Coalition for Better Schools, representing the six Tioga County school districts. Its mission is to inspire student interest in math and science education. Since the Coalition's inception, more than 100,000 K-12 students have participated in Lockheed Martin sponsored programs.
