Lockheed Martin Sponsors School Supply Drive to Benefit Local Children

MOORESTOWN, NJ, August 7th, 2002 -- Back-to-School time finds many students in Burlington County without the pens, notebooks and other supplies they need. Lockheed Martin is helping to prepare those students by sponsoring a School Supply Drive through August 20. "The willingness of Lockheed Martin to step forward and support the students in our schools is admirable," said Walter Keiss, Burlington County superintendent of schools. "The cooperation between industry and schools reflects the positive educational environment we have in Burlington County. Lockheed Martin has always been a good neighbor and this is just another example of their commitment to the students of Burlington County."

Lockheed Martin employees are donating supplies at their work locations and Burlington County residents are being asked to contribute to the drive as well. Community members can make donations of new school supplies in boxes located in 14 area CVS stores.

Local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will join Lockheed Martin employees on Aug. 22 to organize the donated supplies into kits for individual children.

Suggested items for donation include: pencils, paper, spiral notebooks, crayons, rulers, erasers, pens, pencil cases, glue, plastic scissors, watercolor paint sets and folders. Lockheed Martin has purchased a calculator for each student.
