DBM Honors Lockheed Martin for Logistics and Supply Chain Excellence
ORLANDO, FL, June 26th, 2002 -- Lockheed Martin has been selected by the Distribution Business Management (DBM) Association for its 2002 Circle of Excellence Award. A recognized symbol of quality, the annual program honors companies that represent the highest standards of quality and technology, and who provide an environmentally responsible supply chain model. Lockheed Martin is the first defense technology firm to receive the award. An international panel of judges from leading universities and associations that represent distribution, logistics and supply chain management organizations selected Lockheed Martin for this year's award.
The panel's decision was based in part on how Lockheed Martin works with its key suppliers on process improvements and cost saving initiatives to give its customers high quality, low cost and on-time delivery of products, processes and services.
"It's an honor to be selected for this achievement, which salutes logistics, distribution and warehousing excellence through environmentally responsible policies and procedures," said Judy Marks, president of Lockheed Martin's Distribution Technologies business. Accepting the award on behalf of the corporation, Marks emphasized that the 10 criteria used to select this year's Circle of Excellence recipient closely complement similar high standards that embody Lockheed Martin's core business values and operating principles.
The Circle of Excellence Award was presented in conjunction with DBM's International Warehouse of the Future 2002 Conference, which was co-located this year with the Distribution and Fulfillment Expo in Orlando June 24-26.
