Lockheed Martin Orlando President Presents Navy Award Named in his Honor
ORLANDO, FL, June 28th, 2002 -- Stan Arthur, president of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control in Orlando, participated in the sixth annual "Admiral Stan Arthur Awards for Logistics Excellence" award ceremony at the Pentagon yesterday. This award recognizes military and civilian logisticians who exemplify excellence in logistics planning and execution. Before joining Lockheed Martin and moving to Central Florida, Arthur achieved the rank of Admiral in the U.S. Navy. He has served as Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Logistics, commanded all Naval Forces for Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm and was Vice Chief of Naval Operations. He is recognized as a major contributor to the field of military logistics.
This year, the U.S. Navy's premiere logistics award recognized five categories. The 2001 recipients include:
Military Logistician of the Year: Lieutenant Commander Peter G. Stamatopoulos, Operations and SEA/AIR Replenishment Staff Officer for U.S. Naval Central Command and Commander Task Force 53. Civilian Logistician of the Year: Mr. Billy W. Bruner, Jr., Logistics Management Specialist, Ship Material and Readiness Division, COMNAVAIRPAC.Operational Logistics Team of the Year: Maritime Logistics Data Network (MLDN) Functional Support Team with members from Naval Air Forces, Atlantic (COMNAVAIRLANT) and the USS HARRY S TRUMAN. Acquisition Logistics Team of the Year: Smart Transportation Solution Team, with members from the Naval Transportation Support Center and Naval Inventory Control Point. Joint Logistics Team of the Year: Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) Total Logistics Support Team, comprised of members from Naval Air Systems Command, the Naval Aviation Depot at Cherry Point, and the Naval Inventory Control Point. Established in 1997, the Admiral Stan Arthur Awards promote Navy logistician innovation and establish better business practices in the military community. The Arthur awards are cash awards given to both individuals and team members.
