Lockheed Martin Mail Automation Unit Opening Technical Support Center in Dallas Area

IRVING, TX, March 1st, 2002 -- Lockheed Martin is relocating its Enterprise Mail Service and Support (EMSS) center from Oklahoma to Texas, company officials announced today. A 14,500-square-foot facility located at the Freeport Tech Center in Irving, TX, is expected to be fully operational by early May. "Centering our technical service and support operations in the metropolitan Dallas area significantly improves our logistics and transportation options," said Mike Rooney general manager of the Lockheed Martin Distribution Technologies facility in Tulsa, OK, where the field service operation has been based. The operation supports Lockheed Martin's systems integration business for mail processing automation equipment.

"The new center is near the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, which means we will be able to respond to customer emergencies and service issues with greater direct access to most major U.S. metropolitan areas. In addition, we can expedite parts and sparing orders as well as extend our daily hours for fulfilling these requests, because international packaging, shipping and brokerage services are located within minutes of our new center," Rooney added.

The facility will house the field operation and technical staff; a 24x7x365 customer call center; repair parts fulfillment and sales and support functions; as well as a full-service training and technical support center for Enterprise Mail customers. Peter Dutka, currently manager of field services in Tulsa, has been named to lead the EMSS operation in Texas.

All EMSS staff currently based in Tulsa will be provided the opportunity to relocate to Texas, Rooney said. In addition, Lockheed Martin will continue to run a tandem support service from its Oklahoma facility until the transition to the Texas center is fully operational in May, he added.

"This parallel activity will ensure a seamless transition for our customers as well as help us maintain the sterling service level which we're known for in the mail processing industry," he emphasized.
