LOCKHEED MARTIN NAMES EMPLOYEES OF THE YEAR

NEW ORLEANS, LA., May 23rd, 2002 -- Lockheed Martin Space Systems - Michoud Operations, builder of the Space Shuttle External Tank in New Orleans, recently honored six Employees of the Year for increasing productivity, enhancing quality and achieving excellence during 2001. The six are listed below with their honors:

Warren Ussery, Jr. -- Engineer of the Year for technical achievement and leadership in developing and implementing Digital X-Ray for External Tank applications.

Matt Wallo -- Independent Research & Development Investigator of the Year for successfully completing a research program that developed and tested a first-of-its-kind liquid oxygen-compatible composite tank.

Keith Campo -- Quality of the Product Employee of the Year for managing construction projects that improve External Tank production and site operations.

Chad Jones -- Productivity Employee of the Year for promoting the Lean/Six Sigma process that resulted in labor cost reductions.

Roger White -- Operational Performance Employee of the Year in recognition of his manufacturing engineering accomplishments

James Holbrook -- Mission Success Employee of the Year for his contributions in developing new Thermal Protection Systems molds.

Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company - Michoud Operations designs and assembles large aluminum and composite structures for aerospace and other applications, including the Space Shuttle External Tank.
