Lockheed Martin Completes Integration of First Multi-Mission Mobile Processor for SBIRS-High

Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] successfully completed the hardware and software integration of the first two Multi-Mission Mobile Processors (M3P) for the Space-Based Infrared System-High (SBIRS-High) program and has progressed to field-testing. The M3P is a transportable information-processing element deployed to support the warfighter in-theater as required. The successful integration represents a major milestone designated by the Department of Defense.
The M3P is a replacement to the Joint Tactical Ground Station (JTAGS) currently operational with the U.S. Army Space Command. Five JTAGS will be upgraded with the lower-cost M3Ps and provide real-time, direct downlink from Department of Defense sensors. The system provides early warning and cueing information on tactical ballistic missiles; battlespace characterization and other events of interest in near real-time. Reports provided to Space Command include missile type, launch point, time, azimuth, and predicted impact point.
Operational teams successfully have acquired communications and processed live Defense Support Program (DSP) satellite data through the two M3Ps. The DSP satellites will be replaced with the more capable SBIRS-High satellites over the next decade.

The M3P will provide vital tactical support to operations during wartime, providing information to the theater Commanders-In-Chief, and protecting U.S. and allied interests around the globe.
The M3P systems will continue to undergo a series of system tests to ensure performance levels and are scheduled to replace the JTAGS as new SBIRS-High satellite payloads are launched, providing 24-hour, 365 days-a-year, all weather threat monitoring in-theater. Lockheed Martin is also developing M3P units for the U.S. Air Force and the Army.
