LOCKHEED MARTIN TEAMS WITH DR. BEN CARSON'S SCHOLARS FUND FOR BENEFIT OF BALTIMORE AREA YOUTH

BALTIMORE, MD, 29-JAN-03 -- Lockheed Martin announced today that it is partnering with the Dr. Ben Carson Scholars Fund, a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization, to provide college scholarship opportunities to young people in the Baltimore area. The Carson Scholars Fund, founded by Dr. Ben Carson, director of pediatric neurosurgery at The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, is designed to recognize and reward students in grades four through 12 who earn the highest level of academic achievement, and also display strong humanitarian qualities. Winners receive $1,000 scholarship awards that are invested for eventual use in college.

Lockheed Martin -- a global leader in advanced technology systems, products and services - is committed to the academic strength of our nation's youth, said Dale Bennett, vice president and general manager of the Lockheed Martin Naval Electronics & Surveillance Systems-Marine Systems business. The business, located in Middle River, will contribute two $1,000 scholarships to the Dr. Carson Scholars Fund for 2003.
