OWEGO, NY, 10-JUL-03 -- Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT], in conjunction with the Tioga County Coalition for Better Schools, recently awarded 12 Tioga County graduating seniors $6,000 in college scholarships. During the past 12 years, the company has provided nearly $70,000 to Tioga County high school graduates pursuing technical careers. Students were selected by their individual school districts to receive $500 scholarships based on their demonstrated improvement in math and science through sound study skills, hard work and personal commitment.

America's emphasis on national security will create new science and technology job opportunities for today's students, said Lockheed Martin Systems Integration - Owego President Frank Meyer. We are proud to be able to reward these students who have worked so hard to improve their math and science skills.

The company sponsors the Tioga County Coalition for Better Schools, representing the six Tioga County school districts. Its mission is to inspire student interest in math and science education. Since the Coalition's inception in 1990, nearly 150,000 K-12 students in Broome and Tioga counties have participated in Lockheed Martin sponsored programs.
