Lockheed Martin Names Thomas E. Simmons to Lead Combat Vision Systems Business

ORLANDO, FL, 12-JUN-03 -- Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] has appointed Thomas E. Simmons as vice president of its combat vision systems business, reporting directly to James F. Berry, president of the Corporation's Missiles and Fire Control company. As combat vision systems vice president, Simmons is responsible for leading Lockheed Martin's center of expertise for electro-optical, infrared, and radar targeting and navigation systems on fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, as well as fire control, situational awareness and ground systems.

Fixed-wing programs under Simmons' leadership include: Sniper XR (eXtended Range) /PANTERA (Precision Attack Navigation and Targeting with Extended Range Acquisition), Joint Strike Fighter Electro-Optical Targeting System, LANTIRN (Low Altitude Navigation and Targeting Infrared for Night), Missile Launch Detector, and Airborne Infrared Search and Track. Rotary-wing programs include: Arrowhead, Longbow Fire Control Radar, Comanche Electro-Optical Sensor System and Radar, and Hawkeye Target Sight Systems. He is also responsible for the ground Advanced Tactical Sensor System, Snake Eyes.

Simmons was formerly vice president of Missiles and Fire Control's domestic business development. He succeeds Michael T. Donovan who is on a leave of absence.

Since joining Lockheed Martin in 1995, Simmons has served in increasingly responsible executive leadership positions managing domestic and international capture pursuits. For example, he led business development efforts in securing the Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile program and directed business development for the company's Strike Weapons business area.

Simmons previously spent 11 years with Texas Instruments where he held positions in engineering, program management and business development. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Oklahoma State University.
