Lockheed Martin Provides Scholarships to High School Seniors

OWEGO, NY, 06-JUL-04 -- Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT], in collaboration with the Tioga County Coalition for Better Schools and Binghamton City High School, recently awarded 14 area high school seniors a total of $7,000 in college scholarships. The students were chosen by their individual school districts on the basis of strong performances in math and science, demonstrated good work ethics, and serious commitment to technical careers.

The global nature of business and the growing need for innovators in science and technology mean increased job opportunities for our young people, said Lockheed Martin Systems Integration – Owego President Frank Meyer. We are pleased to help our local high achievers pursue further education so they may take advantage of these meaningful career prospects.

The company has provided nearly $77,000 in college scholarships to local high school graduates since 1991.

Led by Lockheed Martin Systems Integration - Owego, the Tioga County Coalition for Better Schools is a community-based partnership to improve science and technology education via programs that stimulate creativity, encourage team building and promote problem solving skills. Lockheed Martin also has an alliance with Binghamton City School District and the Broome County Urban League. This is the first year scholarships were awarded to Binghamton City High School students.
