GOVERNOR BLANCO TO PARTICIPATE IN NCAM SIGNING CEREMONY AT LOCKHEED MARTIN

NEW ORLEANS, LA, 25-MAR-04 -- NASA Marshall Space Flight Center Director Dave King will join Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco and LSU System President William Jenkins to complete the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the continuation of the National Center for Advanced Manufacturing (NCAM) in a ceremony at the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility on Friday, March 26. New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin will also attend.

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) designs and builds the Space Shuttle External Tank at the Michoud facility in New Orleans, and serves as an agent for NCAM activities.

Reporters and photographers are invited to attend a tour of the External Tank production line with Governor Blanco and Mayor Nagin at 2:30 p.m. Following the tour, the group will participate in the NCAM signing ceremony and make brief remarks.

NCAM is a product of a Memorandum of Understanding between NASA, the state of Louisiana and the University of New Orleans that resulted from an initiative by Lockheed Martin Space Systems – Michoud Operations. NCAM is a state of the art manufacturing facility that will design and assemble products such as lightweight composite tanks for space launch vehicles or low profile components for advanced aircraft.
