ASTRONAUT DANNY OLIVAS TO VISIT LOCAL SCHOOL

NEW ORLEANS, LA, 22-SEP-04 -- NASA astronaut John “Danny” Olivas will visit Thurgood Marshall Middle School, 4621 Canal Street, at 2:15 p.m. Thursday, September 23 to make a presentation to students.

Reporters and photographers are invited to attend Olivas’ presentation.

Olivas will be in New Orleans to present awards to Lockheed Martin Space Systems employees and teams at the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility earlier that day. Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) designs and builds the Space Shuttle External Tank at the Michoud facility in New Orleans.

A native of El Paso, Texas, Olivas joined the astronaut corps in 1998. He is currently assigned to technical responsibilities within the Robotics Branch of the Astronaut Office.
