Lockheed Martin Announces Aerotext(TM) Version 3.0 Arabic Rules Knowledge Base Option
GAITHERSBURG, MD., 09/23/2004 -- Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] announced today the new Arabic Rules Knowledge Base option available for its AeroTextTM Version 3.0 software, a cutting-edge information extraction tool that solves problems with data overload. AeroText Arabic Rules Knowledge Base option extracts entities and relationships in varieties of Arabic dialects in native Arabic script.
The AeroText Arabic Rules Knowledge Base option improves the effectiveness of data extraction in over 30 Arabic dialects, such as Modern Standard Arabic, Egyptian, Gulf/Peninsula, Sudanese, Iraqi, Levantine, Najdi, and greater Arab Maghreb dialects. The Arabic Rules Knowledge Base also identifies entity information such as people, organizations, locations, time and numeric expressions, and also distinguishes relationships among these entities. The AeroText Arabic Rules Knowledge Base option can be invaluable to expert translators, enabling them to quickly recognize entities in an unfamiliar dialect.
To meet the demands of a specific subject area, or for more distinctive data, the AeroText Arabic Rules Knowledge Base option supports smooth development capabilities with the AeroText integrated development environment to custom tailor the rules knowledge base.
“Even the best data extraction technology will not improve knowledge management if it cannot work with the language at hand. And while one can use the AeroText integrated development environment to create extraction capabilities in any language or domain, the AeroText Arabic Rules Knowledge Base give users out-of-the-box capabilities to greatly speed the system deployment,” said Ron Nakamoto, Vice President of Lockheed Martin Intelligence Systems.
Lockheed Martin developed the AeroText software as a foundation solution for problems with data overload and data access in many fields, such as national security, biomedical research, market research, and competitive assessments. The software is used to find relevant information, such as entities, relationships and events, automatically in natural language text documents of all major formats including Adobe® PDF, Microsoft® Word and Excel. AeroText significantly reduces the time required for information exploration by quickly identifying information with an accuracy that matches or exceeds human interpretation. It also discovers subtle relationships and events among data elements that would otherwise be unavailable to a human investigator.
The flexibility offered by AeroText in the rule-development arena leads to constant improvements in extraction accuracy and to a customized solution regardless of the human language or application subject matter. The AeroText Arabic Rules Knowledge Base option is an excellent example of this flexibility.
