Lockheed Martin, Owego Employees Donate More Than $750,000

OWEGO, NY, 05-DEC-05 -- Lockheed Martin Systems Integration in Owego and its employees have donated more than $750,000 to charities and non-profit agencies this year – far exceeding its goal of $650,000. The funds were donated through Lockheed Martin’s Employee Charities of Choice (ECC) Campaign, an annual drive that promotes charitable giving through cash donations and community service.

“This year, our employees exceeded our pledge goal by more than $100,000. This achievement is even more significant since this follows their earlier support to hurricane relief,” said Frank C. Meyer, president of Lockheed Martin Systems Integration – Owego. “They also have volunteered more than 73,000 hours to various community service projects in 2005.”

Overall, Lockheed Martin employees in Owego made more than 4,000 pledges to 348 different charities and non-profit agencies through the ECC Campaign. In addition to the charity drive, Lockheed Martin’s campaign included a non-profit agency fair held at its Owego facility where 37 agencies showcased their offerings. Twelve community Day of Caring projects also were organized where employees worked together to donate their time to community service projects including volunteering at a field trip for the Broome-Tioga Association for Retarded Citizens and supporting repair and clean-up at the Waterman Conservation Education Center

During the ECC Campaign, Lockheed Martin participated in the Loaned Executive Program, where two employees were provided to support the United Way’s annual fundraising drives. Bob Jensen, subcontract program manager, and Lou Bertoni, business practices representative, participated in the program this year. Jensen worked with the United Way of Broome County and Bertoni with the Tioga United Way.
