LOCKHEED MARTIN PRESENTING SPONSOR FOR BAY AREA WALKAMERICA 2005

HOUSTON, TX, 05/02/2005 -- Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) Space Operations’ (LMSO) Vice President, Dan Brandenstein, recently presented a check on behalf of Lockheed Martin in the amount of $10,000 to March of Dimes development coordinator Beth Compton and the Bay Area WalkAmerica 2005 chairman and Boeing Vice President, Steven S. Oswald.

Lockheed Martin’s contribution, along with WalkAmerica dollars raised will help fund initiatives such as research into stress and other factors that may trigger preterm labor; prematurity prevention programs that education women on how to recognize the signs; and education programs to assist healthcare providers in finding better ways to detect women who may be at risk for preterm labor. Today premature birth is the No. 1 killer of infants born in America.

The Lockheed Martin team joined the Space Center Volunteers, an organization of aerospace companies, and walked in the May 1, 2005 event at the University of Houston in Clear Lake. Nearly 2,500 walkers turned out at the UHCL walk site and to date March of Dimes has raised 75% of the nationwide goal of $100 million.

We are proud of our commitment to community service and to the March of Dimes,” said Dan Brandenstein. “Lockheed Martin Space Operations has supported this event for nearly 20 years and I’m pleased to say that our team supported the walk with enthusiasm and dedication.” Including the contribution from Lockheed Martin, the team raised approximately $18,000 to date.
