Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] selected several employees from its Missiles and Fire Control business unit in Dallas to receive NOVA Awards, the Corporation’s highest recognition for individual or team achievements. Less than one-half of one percent of the Corporation’s worldwide 135,000 employees receive the honor each year.

“The NOVA Awards are Lockheed Martin's highest recognition for individuals and teams who have made outstanding contributions to the Corporation’s mission and objectives,” said Bob Coutts, executive vice president, Lockheed Martin Electronic Systems. “This year's honorees are responsible for customer-satisfying performance, key technical breakthroughs, strategically critical new business wins, leadership and selfless service to the community, demonstrating the commitment of Lockheed Martin and its people to our customers, our shareholders and the communities in which we live and work.”

Dallas resident Becky Wallace received a NOVA Award for leading the Compact Kinetic Energy Missile team through two successful flight missions and demonstrating leadership attributes that ensured a highly collaborative team environment. Her hard work, dedication and leadership have resulted in a motivated and successful workforce.

The MEADS team, which includes several Dallas residents, received a NOVA Award for successfully completing the final Risk Reduction Effort System Demonstration in Italy – the decisive event that convinced the United States, Germany and Italy to proceed into the program's $3 billion Design and Development phase. MEADS is a mobile air defense system that incorporates the battle-proven hit-to-kill PAC-3 Missile. The system includes surveillance and fire control sensors, battle management/communication centers and high firepower launchers.

The Lockheed Martin MEADS team included Dallas residents Billy J. Curb, Gene E. Lowery, Robert C. Walker and Jerry G. McNutt.

The NOVA Award program recognizes individuals and teams who have made outstanding contributions to the Corporation’s mission and business objectives. There are four categories of award: exceptional service, leadership, teamwork and technical excellence. Lockheed Martin Chief Executive Officer Robert J. Stevens will host the ninth annual NOVA Awards on Oct. 28 2005, at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC.
