LOCKHEED MARTIN RECOGNIZES APPLE VALLEY RESIDENTS WITH CORPORATION'S HIGHEST HONORS
Eagan, MN, 31-OCT-05 -- A team of Lockheed Martin [NYSE:LMT] employees, including Apple Valley residents Jeffery Herman, Steve Karban and John Westergren received Lockheed Martin's 2005 NOVA Award, the corporation's highest recognition for individual or team achievements. The 10th annual award ceremony was held on Oct. 28, 2005 at the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum in Washington, D.C.
The NOVA Award program was established upon Lockheed Martin’s formation in 1995 to honor individuals and teams across the corporation who made outstanding contributions to Lockheed Martin's mission and business objectives. Awards are made annually in four categories - Exceptional Service, Leadership, Teamwork, and Technical Excellence.

Herman, Karban and Westergren managed and produced a successful proposal for the U.S. Navy’s Naval Display System valued at more than $1 billion.
The NOVA Award derives its name from the Latin word for new, and its astronomical definition as a stellar outburst of creative power, with the star motif building on the Lockheed Martin logo. The NOVA Awards program recognizes those stars who contribute their own creativity to the overall success of Lockheed Martin.
