LOCKHEED MARTIN EMPLOYEE HONORED BY INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF LOGISTICS

GAITHERSBURG, MD., 08/17/2006 -- Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] is proud to announce that Joseph (Joe) Grosson has been awarded this year’s Logistics Technology and Field Award by the International Society of Logistics (SOLE).

The award is presented annually to an individual in recognition of outstanding services and contributions by individuals in the specialty area of the broad fields of logistics. The award was presented to Grosson yesterday at SOLE’s annual International Logistics Conference in Dallas, Tex.

This was not the first recognition of teh year for GRosson, who earlier was presented with the Greer Award for outstanding contributions to defense logistics technology by the National Defense Inustrial Associaiton.

“These awards recognize Lockheed Martin’s commitment to providing the military with the most advanced logistics capabilities possible,” said Grosson, who has worked with Lockheed Martin for 10 years.

Grosson currently serves as Lockheed Martin's executive director, Focused Logistics, and concurrently serves on the staff of the Chief Technology Officers as the Corporate director of logistics. Grosson’s responsibilities include focusing on leadership and collaboration for logistics technology and advancements in areas such as autonomic logistics, performance-based logistics, information technology frameworks and automatic identification. The Focused Logistics team is also creating a logistics knowledge management system, community-of-practice and a logistics education institute.

The International Society of Logistics is a non-profit international professional society composed of individuals organized to enhance the art and science of logistics technology, education and management. SOLE was founded in 1966 as the Society of Logistics Engineers to engage in educational, scientific, and literary endeavors to advance the art of logistics technology and management.
