LOCKHEED MARTIN NAMES KNAUER TO LEAD SMALL LAUNCH VEHICLES INTEGRATION
NEW ORLEANS, LA, 08-FEB-06 -- Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE:LMT) has appointed Larry Knauer, director, Small Launch Vehicles Integration, at its Space Systems -- Michoud Operations. In his new position, he will be responsible for the development of a small payload delivery line of business. Affordable small payload delivery systems play an important role in the maturing of core space technology that enhances U.S. leadership in space systems.
Knauer joined Lockheed Martin in 1982 as a propulsion engineer in Orlando, Fla. for Missile Systems. He transferred to Michoud in 1994 as deputy director for the Super Lightweight Tank program and subsequently served as vice president of Technical Operations. He left the company in 1999 to become president of Space Propulsion for Pratt & Whitney.
He holds an aerospace engineering degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
