LOCKHEED MARTIN DELIVERS SECOND FLIGHT TANK TO NASA THIS YEAR

NEW ORLEANS, LA, 07-JUN-06 -- Lockheed Martin Space Systems – Michoud Operations delivered External Tank-118 to NASA on June 5. The tank will serve as the back-up tank for the STS-121/ET-119 launch in July.

ET-118 is scheduled to fly on STS-115 later this summer. The mission will deliver a truss and other key components during the Space Shuttle's 19th flight to the International Space Station.

Liberty Star, the Solid Rocket Booster Retrieval ship, is currently towing ET-118 on an ocean-going, enclosed barge to Kennedy Space Center and should arrive June 9. The 900-mile trip from New Orleans across the Gulf of Mexico and up the Atlantic Ocean side of Florida takes five days.
