Lockheed Martin Supports Ethics and Leadership Days For Loudoun County Public Schools
LEESBURG, VA, 03/31/2006 --
Lockheed Martin is supporting Ethics and Leadership Days for high school seniors in Loudoun County, VA, public schools. Together with the Loudoun Education Foundation, as well as other businesses in the community, Lockheed Martin has supported the series of events throughout the year with funding and volunteers to help raise ethical awareness in students.
Yesterday, senior high school students gathered at the Loudoun County Public Schools Administration Building to focus on making difficult decisions and consider the impact those decisions can have on society. The goal of the program was to demonstrate the importance of having a strong value system, and to explore how those values are developed.
Since its creation in May 1999, Ethics and Leadership Day has expanded from an event at one high school, to a program that is offered to all high school seniors across the County. The program is hosted several times a year to accommodate over 1000 students.
“Ethical decision making is important not only in business, but also in life,” said Jarvis Myrick, ethics officer for Lockheed Martin Transportation and Security Solutions. We, at Lockheed Martin, are indeed fortunate that our company comprises excellent people who have a strong sense of ethics and integrity and live by these standards. We saw this project as an opportunity to work with students, our future community and business leaders, as they develop a strong foundation of honesty, integrity, respect, trust, responsibility, and citizenship.”
