The United States Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM) recently awarded the Longbow Limited Liability Company (LBL), a Joint Venture of Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] and Northrop Grumman Corporation [NYSE: NOC], a contract for Life Cycle Contractor Support (LCCS) for the Longbow Fire Control Radar (FCR) system in the amount of $43.4 million.

“This follow-on contract provides for continued support of fielded FCRs that LBL has provided since the initial fielding of Apaches with FCRs in 1998,” said Jerry Garman, Longbow FCR program director at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control.

The contract award is for CY 07 with negotiated annual options for CY 08 - CY 10. LBL will provide field technical support, logistics support and repairs for fielded U.S. Army FCR systems on the AH-64D Apache helicopter. The contract also has a Firm Fixed Price option of $1.67 million for field spares, which is expected to be exercised shortly.

The U.S. Army requirement is for LBL to provide spare parts at the unit level to maintain Apache operational readiness. In addition, this contract will allow LBL to provide its current and future international customers with expert technical and logistical support.

“The synergistic pricing permitted by this contract will allow LBL to support the international community in a more cost effective manner,” Garman added. “The timely provision of repairs and spares are part of LBL’s product management expertise.”
